Purrtraits

You might notice a new face, that piebald kitty is Lily the youngest of the three. The oldest is Lucy (Siamese) we got her around 2021. Then comes the second youngest: Milo (Tabby) we got him around 2022. Finally, the one you now know; the youngest: Lily (Grey and White Tabby) we got her around 2024.

I knew when a got a camera I wanted to take a photo of my cats and oh boy did I take photos. That photo of Lily is the second photo I ever took and it was on a whim. I just wanted to take an average cat photo but I noticed how perfect photo was. So I decided to take a portrait photo of the other two and they are so cool, they're faces and emotions encapsulate their personalities perfectly.

Lily is probably the most adorable of the three. She has such a cute face, and to top it off, she's very affectionate and playful. But don’t let that deceive you — she’s also a bit of a little demon. She chases the other cats, picks fights, bites and scratches her humans, and knocks things over. Sometimes I think she uses her adorable looks to distract us while she commits her tiny acts of chaos. That's why I love her photo she is so photogenic, staring straight at the camera with a poker face almost as if she's modelling for the photo.

Milo is probably the most affectionate of the three. He’s just so innocent and sweet. he's almost somewhat of a lone wolf, or in this case, a lone cat. He's very reserved and enjoys being alone. His two favorite things are pets and food. He becomes such a cutie patootie when you pet him, rubbing against your legs and purring like a revved-up car. He's also a bit of a fatty, scarfing down both cat food and human food alike. I'm glad to say that I'm probably his favorite human — he's always following me around the house, meowing at me for pets, and in return, I make sure I give him the best rubs. I don’t know why, but he only does this with me. With any other family member, he acts pretty normal. But when I pet him, he goes crazy. To me, he's like all the best parts of a cat rolled into one. That’s why I love this photo of him — he’s almost looking away, minding his own business with not a care in the world.

Lucy is Lucy. She's a bit of a wildcard — kind of like a mix of the other two. She's very adventurous; she loves exploring the house, the backyard, and the front. She also likes hunting insects and other wildlife. She's a very outdoorsy cat — to the point that she’ll meow at us, demanding someone take her outside. She’s a stubborn one. If she doesn't like something, she’ll make sure you know it — and she’ll make sure she gets what she wants on her terms. She's very intelligent, and a lot of that goes into her specialty: the art of escape. She's a born escape artist. Every time we think we’ve thwarted her attempts to escape the house, she manages to outsmart us. She's almost un-catlike in a way — more like a dog. To me, she kind of reminds me of a rat, both in behavior and appearance. That’s not to say she isn’t affectionate. When she does feel like being affectionate, she can be the sweetest cat — so much so that it sometimes surprises me, considering how she usually acts. She’s a diva and she doesn’t care — and that’s why I love her so much, and this photo of her. She looks so curious and inquisitive, almost like she’s thinking, "Why is this human shoving this object in my face?"
