Đất Đỏ

Đất Đỏ is the seventh and last location I visited. Đất Đỏ is a rural district located on the southeastern coast of Vietnam, near Saigon. At Đất Đỏ, I visited a water park, but I didn't swim, just relaxed. I then stayed at a seaside resort which had a pool, and I swam.

Saigon

I spent the final days of the vacation in Saigon, relaxing at the hotel and taking a few strolls around the city. Did you know they also serve fried chicken in Vietnamese McDonald's?

❮ ❯ I took these photos with my smartphone before I got a digital camera. No techniques, just me taking a photo of my cats. The Siamese is Lucy, and the tabby is Milo. Even though they don't have the quality or the techniques I would usually incorporate in the photos I've taken with a camera, they have this nostalgic charm to them. I always look back and aww at the sight of them—they were so small! My favorite photo out of all of them is the photo of Lucy napping on the beanbag; she just looks so cute and cozy. I love the warm color of the photo. The color of Lucy, the beanbag, and the door blend so beautifully. An honorable mention is the photo with Lucy and Milo curled up together—it reminds me of Yin and Yang.

❮ ❯ Some of these photos, as you can see, have a creative spin to them. I decided I wanted to create something more artistic with the photos I took. It was fun using my cats as muses in the images, as I could transport them into whatever world my imagination could come up with and see my ideas come to life. I also just wanted to do something where I could portray my feelings and present them in a way that will hopefully make people think and relate. Sometimes I see a photo and imagine a story. Take the "Disgust" gif I made; it was originally a photo of Lucy lying on my chair, and she just so happened to make that interesting face. I thought it was hilarious, it looked as if she was making a face of disgust, and so I created "that", a GIF of Lucy judging something or someone with vehement disgust. It's definitely something I want to do more of in the future.

Arriving in Vietnam and Hanoi If you couldn't tell from the title or preview, yes, I actually visited Vietnam, my home country, the yellow star, the quê hương for the first time. It also marked the first time travelling overseas in decades. I have to say it was quite an adventure. I'll admit I'm not the best at describing things in detail, but I will do my best to describe each of the cool spots and the neat little things I noticed and did. You will notice that a lot of photos are in a 1:1 resolution. Why is that? Aesthetically, I just wanted to emulate how cramped Vietnam is.
